Tonight, on the third day of the VIII FIFUSA Futsal World Cup, Mexico secured its first victory with a resounding 11-0 win over Pakistan. Pakistan, coming off a tough 15-0 loss to Ecuador in their first match, faced an even more difficult challenge against Mexico.
After falling 10-1 to Brazil, the Mexican team was determined to change its course in the tournament. The Pakistanis, with just 24 hours of rest and having played three consecutive matches, fought with determination but could not hold off Mexico's relentless attack.
Fans at the Bicentenario Coliseum showed their support for Pakistan, cheering the team as they tried to score their first goal of the tournament. However, Mexico’s defense and a lack of luck prevented that moment from happening.
The scoring began at the 14:20 mark of the first half when Muhammad Aftab (#4) scored an own goal while trying to clear a cross from Carlos Sandis (#3), putting Mexico ahead.
In the second half, Mexico completely dominated. Erick Madrigal (#11) scored the first of his three goals just 22 seconds after the restart, capitalizing on an error by Pakistan’s goalkeeper, who left the goal empty in an attempt to play the ball quickly.
Despite the challenges, Pakistan tried to find its rhythm, but the Mexican offense was too
overwhelming. Pakistan’s Igbad Hussayn (#12) was booked for a handball near the box, the only card shown in a match notable for its flow and sportsmanship.
Mexico continued pressing until the final whistle, securing their first victory of the championship. Pakistan, on the other hand, suffered their third consecutive defeat, leaving them out of the running for the next stage, though they still have one more match to improve their performance.
