Tonight, the VIII FIFUSA Futsal World Cup continued with the quarterfinals. The match between Colombia and Mexico stood out for its number of goals and total dominance by the home team, as the Colombians defeated the Mexicans 8-0.

The Colombian team entered this match after a 7-0 victory over Australia in the Round of 16, being one of the only two teams, alongside Brazil, to not concede a goal in the knockout stages. Mexico, the last remaining Central American team, came into this match with hopes of advancing to the semifinals after Panama’s elimination earlier in the day.

The match began with referee Rafael Diaz blowing the whistle to start this clash between two great teams at the Bicentenario Coliseum. As the ball rolled, the emotions of both the players and fans intensified.

Colombia quickly took control of the ball, forcing Mexico to retreat into defense early in the game, allowing the Colombians to dictate the pace. Just 3 minutes in, Kewin Ariza (#7) provided an assist in the Mexican box for Daniel Bentancourt (#11) to power the ball into the net, beating the Mexican goalkeeper.

The second goal came just a minute later, with Daniel Rojas (#7) scoring from a free kick, extending the lead to 2-0. Colombia’s dominance continued, and by halftime, they were leading 6-0. The Mexicans tried to respond with long-range shots and speed on the wings, but they ran into a solid South American defense.

The second half mirrored the first, with Colombia maintaining their high pace and adding two more goals to secure the biggest win of the quarterfinals with an 8-0 result.

The Colombian team remains the only team in the tournament that has yet to concede a goal in the knockout stages, having kept clean sheets in both the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals.
