The VIII FIFUSA Futsal World Cup continued today with the second match of the tournament. The game between Brazil and Pakistan stood out for its high number of goals, ending with a 22-0 victory for the Brazilians.
Brazil, who came off a 2-1 win against Australia in their second match, faced a much easier challenge than expected against Pakistan, who had made their debut just yesterday. The Brazilian team took the initiative from the first few minutes, attacking with determination, while Pakistan looked for counterattack opportunities.
Despite the heavy 15-0 defeat that Pakistan suffered at the hands of Ecuador the night before, the visitors came into this game with a bit more rest and improved defensive actions and ball control.
The match was dominated by the Brazilians from start to finish, controlling the ball with
determination and confidence. Pakistan remained alert throughout the match, but Brazil’s offensive power was unleashed in the 18th minute of the first half when (#9) opened the scoring, assisted by (#10). The first yellow card of the game was shown to Pakistan’s goalkeeper (#1) for a clear foul on Brazil’s last forward.
The match became one-sided in Brazil’s favor at minute 11:49 of the first half when Brazil extended their lead to 5-0, with (#5) scoring after a brilliant assist from (#6). Pakistan received their second yellow card when (#9) blocked a clear chance from Brazil with his
hand in the box, resulting in a penalty. (#5) converted the penalty with a shot into the top left corner of the Pakistani goalkeeper’s net. The game went to halftime with a 10-0 scoreline, and Pakistan’s coach attempted to rally his players to reduce the deficit, while Brazil’s team showed no signs of slowing down.
The rout concluded in the final minutes of the second half when an own goal by Pakistan’s (#10) made the score 21-0. The referee blew the final whistle with the clock at zero, leaving Brazil with their third consecutive victory in the championship, while Pakistan suffered their second defeat but still holds on to hopes of advancing to the next stage.
