The Argentine National Team, led by Armando Corvalán, had a dream debut in the VIII FIFUSA Indoor Soccer World Championship, beating Guatemala with a resounding 7-1 in the second match of the first day.
First half: minimal advantage for Argentina
The first half was close, but Argentina managed to open the scoring in the 6th minute with a goal from Santiago Verón (#5), who took advantage of a fortuitous play in the area to score 1-0. This minimal advantage gave confidence to the albiceleste, who dominated possession, although they were unable to increase the score before the break.

In the second half, Argentina displayed all its offensive potential. At minute 6 of the second half, Tomás Civelli (#4) scored 2-0 after an assist from Diego Vargas (#9). Vargas, who was in great form, scored 3-0 in the 10th minute, returning the favor to Civelli.
Guatemala managed to pull one back, but Argentina did not let up. José María Carrito (#6) made it 4-1 at minute 13 with an assist from Civelli, and the closing of the game was spectacular, with Jeremías Asencio (#11) scoring a hat trick at minutes 17, 19 and 20. The assists were by Matías Cárcano (#8) and Santiago Verón (#5) in the last goal.
Party incidents
The match was intense, with several warnings. Tomás Civelli (#4) from Argentina received a yellow card at minute 11 of the second half, while for Guatemala, Anthony Coronado (#7) was cautioned at minute 15:40, followed by José Morales (#1) at minute 10.
With this victory, Argentina, under the direction of Armando Corvalán, emerges as one of the strongest teams in the tournament. For its part, Guatemala, with Gustavo Valderramas at the helm, will have to rethink its strategy for the next matches.
